Title: Ryanair Pilot diverts as it is 'too dark to land'
Post by: jasT1981 on May 15, 2013, 07:59:50 PM
Apparently a Ryanair pilot made a 200 mile divert to another airport because it was too dark for him to land! Anyone ever heard that before? lol

Only thing I can think of might be that the approach was tricky over highgound, and a steep descent into the airport.
If this was to be flown in certain conditions it could be considered too dangerous, but I admit it is a very strange one.

Possibly a new entry in the Ryanair book of excuses?  ;D

Possibly the runway lighting level required for certain approach in certain conditions wasn't adequate. It's anyone's guess really.
