Local lens hire?
« on: August 16, 2013, 05:05:06 PM »
Looking to hire a beast for FlightFest but the only outlets I know of & have used were when I was over on the big island.

Any recommended in NI or eastern side of the South?

Thanks!

Calumet (Boucher Rd, Belfast) do rental AFAIK, haven't rented from them myself but I know some of the guys I used to photo the bike racing with would rent big kit for the major races.

By chance I happened to be in the Boucher Road area today ( not something I experience often, thankfully ) and popped in to Calumet.

Had a 'feel' of the Canon 400mm 5.6 prime, lovely piece of kit and very portable but unfortunately they don't hire that one out.

One lens they do hire is the 300mm 2.8; incredible piece of metal and glass which comes in its own carrying case.  Very tempted, for 60 quid per day, to give it a try.. no way I'm ever going to own one!

would you be better hiring a zoom rather than a prime, just to give you
a bit more flexibility ( thinking 120/150 - 300/500)?
