Went flying today
« on: March 22, 2009, 02:15:29 AM »
Went for a flight today in G-UFCI at Newtownards with my two nephews(8years and 11years).Instructor was Evra or Evan not sure cause he was very softly spoken.
I have been lucky enough to have amassed 8hrs of flying in the last 2-3years, but first time I have flown in one of the glass cockpit C172`s.

Took off and landed on runway 34,the approach is over the sea wall which is cool as people on the wall are only 30ft below you.
I didn`t fancy landing and taking off in the tricky conditions so let Evan do the honours.(I haven`t had much experience of crosswinds and using the rudder) :-[
Today was just a 30min flight but was great fun, wind was pretty strong but luckily not too bumpy-sickbags not required. ;D

Lots of fun toys with the glass cockpit set up-sadly I only had a disposable camera which I gave to my nephews cause I was busy up the front-so If any decent shots I will post them up.

Recommend it to all if you haven`t had a go. :D

Excellent - glad you all had a great time.I was invited on a flight in Cirrus SR20 G-OUNI a few months ago, which also has a glass cockpit.Like you say, lots of 'bells and whistles' to keep you amused :D
I wasn't at the controls at all as i have no flying experience but it was very enjoyable all the same. The flight lasted about half an hour,we left EGAB and travelled up as far as Strabane area before routing back again.I only got a few pics as the cloudbase was quite low on the day.

Nice one! Flying from Newtownards is great fun. I was on UFCI several weeks ago however I was back seating :) I'm sure up front is more fun than the back seats  :)
