Fast jet training in NI?
« on: September 04, 2009, 08:28:08 PM »
Evening All. My first post on this great site. Best place to keep up to date with the airshow latest.

The Belfast Telegraph has an interesting story this evening about the RAF's aspiration to introduce fast jet training in N. Ireland. Aldergrove changes hands and we get the real thing? Result!

Low flying helicopters got enough NIMBY's squealing to the press and their local MP,so i doubt fast jets would be welcomed in the area.
Nice if it happens though..  8) :D ;)

The sooner the better. Its great to see fast jets in a relitively real environment. When I lived in Scarborough, Yorkshire it was a frequent sight both over the Sea and up on the Moors.

Yes indeed. Though the 10 mile buffer zone would probably rule out the Mournes. Damn it!

I have seen Harriers,Jaguars and Hawks flying in and around the Mournes many times over the years-probably not on an offical excersise, but I suspect using a slightly more interesting route back to their respective UK bases.
