RAF 100, Heathrow & Birmingham spotting trip (Photo heavy)
« on: August 04, 2018, 05:20:22 PM »
Spent two great trips to England recently in a bit of an aviation overload! Heathrow, Queens Birthday flypast, Cosford, Birmingham airport, RAF 100 flypast &  Heathrow again!

RAF 100 flypast was an amazing experience. Photo's didn't turn out the greatest though. Probably the last time I will ever see a Tornado flying, and there was 9 in formation, same with the Tucano, probably my last time seeing one in the skies and we got 9 :D

The new F35 is incredible.

Stayed in Heathrow T4 Premier Inn for both times in London and got runway view rooms both times. Stayed in Travel lodge Birmingham and again got runway view :D

Also took a run out to Hendon, not sure I like the refurbishment. Seems smaller and more spaced out. A lot of stuff moved up to Cosford and no longer has access to inside the Shorts Sunderland. Still good to see though. Didn't get any good photos at the Queens flypast I found myself to the left of the palace under trees so it was hard to get good shots, so I didn't bother and just watched. For RAF 100 though I was right up at the front of the palace with a full view down the mall.

 :goodjob:

Lovely selection there, especially like the Oman Air Dreamliner.

Is the Premier Inn in T4 suitable for pics of the airfield?

I found it quite good the 2nd time, the first time not as great. Room 787 had a fantastic view for take offs on 9R, though you missed the rotation they were just in the air by the time they passed me. These were taken from my rooms.

June room (627 i think)

Sadly the windows of Premier Inn don't open so you're not able to lean out and look forther down.
