Belfast City Airport - 09/02/10
« on: February 09, 2010, 04:57:47 PM »
Was in two minds to go over to the airport or not! There was no sun until about 10.30 in Blefast so I was over from about 11 to 2. Wasn't much traffic and suprisingly no E195s! Few photos here anyway. Might try to sit down and edit a few more later on tonight.

Nice shots! Like that first bmi one  :) . Surprised you didn't see a E195. Very common these days with MAN and BHX based units operating in.

Some great shots! I'm heading down tomorrow so hopefully the weathers still good. Comparing some of the RWY 04 departure pictures to pictures taken during the summer, it seems the aircraft are lifting off earlier during the colder winter weather than during the hotter summer weather.

As far as I know cold air provides more lift than warm air so the tak off distances should be shorter in the winter.

From my Aerospace days at uni, the colder temperature means the engines produce more thrust than during warmer temperatures = shorter take off roll.

Anyhow, I was down at BHD this morning and met up with Keith. Might be interesting to point out that we were by the fence and the Harbour Police appeared behind us, turned into the bus turning circle, took one looked at us, and then headed onwards immediately.  :)
