Stansted runway costs cut by £300m
« on: January 30, 2007, 11:02:45 AM »
Airports operator BAA announced it was scaling down controversial plans for a second runway and terminal at Stansted just two months after an earlier proposal was rejected.

But campaigners vowed to continue fighting the expansion, saying concerns remained about its impact on roads and railways, air quality and global warming.

BAA said it had cut the cost of the project by £300 million to £1.4 billion and reduced the amount of land needed by 22% on earlier estimates.
