2010 Airshows
« on: October 10, 2009, 09:08:13 PM »
Realise this is really early but is anyone thinking of going to either RIAT or Farnborough next year?

I'm planning to go to both (they're only a week apart) and have already booked the hotels. Don't yet whether I'll fly or take the car.

The chances are I'll be going to both of them. I was at RIAT in 2003 and 2005 and Farnborough 2006 and enjoyed them both. Now I have an SLR, I'd love to go back on a photo spree. Probably won't get around to booking hotels or flights until next year :D

Think i'll try to get to Farnborough. I'm a Londoner and never even knew Farnborough was so close

I go home to London a couple of times a year and always in July so the timing works out perfect.

It's early days i know, but i heard a whisper that there are no plans to have a show at Enniskillen next year - so that may well rule out N'Ards as well?

It's alleged that they barely managed to 'break even' - or possibly ran at a loss previously.

Thanks to the generous sponsors and TTF and co,we have been able to enjoy the Portrush show for the past couple of years whilst the others have disappeared off the calendar.Budget cuts and overseas Ops are now going to bite the Armed Forces hard, and as mentioned in the other thread this will have a huge impact on what is available for display purposes.

Bringing a Tornado or F16 (including a spare airframe and ground crew) from Germany or Belgium would probably eat up a huge amount of what i imagine is a very limited pot to start with.

Seeing all those aircraft in the static display at RIAT seems a bit of a waste though, when a few passes from some of them would liven things up a bit 8) 8)
