I managed to go to Helsinki Airport yesterday and just about survived the -15oC temperatures for 4 to 5 hours. It had snowed heavily last week and of course, the snow hadn't melted so we had some nice snow at the airport. This was the first time me or my girlfriend had done some serious spotting here so we were unfamilar with the place.
After about an hour we found a good position at the end of the active take off runway, however after an hour, they changed take off direct and runway, thus we had to reposition. An hour later we then heard from my sister back in Belfast that an A340 from asia would be landing, thus we again gambled and repositioned to try and capture it landing. No such luck as it landed on the wrong runway, however it can be seen in the background of one of the pictures.
We did manage afew nice pics of the MD-11 that departed right infront of us. Helsinki is an amazing airport with up to 20 spotting locations. I'm trying to persuade my girlfriend to take me again before I go home, but not having much luck at the moment.
