Shorts COMPUTOR
« on: October 24, 2015, 03:11:27 PM »
Another little piece of Shorts history from the Flight archive, a trio of mid-1950s analogue computers ( or computor in the lingo of the time ) being used to drive a flight simulator.

November 1956

I was aware of an analogue computer being developed by Mr Marshall at Thompson's Feeds around this time but the Shorts one was new to me.

Their original computer of 1953 doesn't seem to have had a name as such, but was followed-up by the SIMLAC of 1959.  And apparently a SIMLAC Minor a little later.
