Spitfire Excavation in Monaghan
« on: May 14, 2017, 12:13:00 PM »
Spitfire... (yawn  ;) ) wreckage being excavated in County Monaghan.
Aircraft is R6992 from 1402 Met Flight. Pilot had bailed out.

Very little left of it, but the recovered items are to be displayed after conservation in the Monaghan County Museum

I read about that on the BBC News website....http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-39906984

But as I read the article,it said the major parts had been recovered shortly after the crash, and not much was left now.
Still interesting mind you.
