Big Freighter in BFS
« on: October 19, 2009, 09:38:26 PM »
Just caught a glimpse of what looked like a large freighter on finals to 25 at BFS.(2105).

Tail had red/blue and engine note (jet) sounded odd-possibly an Antonov???

Too dark to see clearly, but it seemed large to me.

Nope that B737-the tail was much larger and had red/blue on a white backround.
Really frustrating when you can`t get a good look at something coming into to BFS because it gets dark so early now.

Also a couple of out buildings were I live mean I can only get a brief glimpse.
A friend of mine has a SBS system;I will see if he knows what it was.

By the time I found my radio I heard tower giving instructions to an aircraft for stand 5F which is s freight stand, but I don`t know which aircraft she was talking to.

Looks like it must have been the Iceland Air B757 as you suggest Canon.

Friend picked it up on SBS at 2040 at 13750 ft descending,I couldn`t see anything else large that was descending around that time.

Aircraft was TF-FIG which I am pretty sure has been into BFS before operating Lourdes Charters.

I thought the tail was a red flash on blue but it`s actually a yellow flash on blue-light in our yard isn`t great :)

Coincidentally Iceland Air B757 TF-FII visited Dublin yesterday morning at 11.00am.
