Two Grey Helicopters
« on: February 19, 2010, 01:16:11 PM »
Heard and saw 2 grey coloured Helicopter heading toward Lurgan at approx 1210.
I think they were Griffin`s (they were flying into the Sun and only got a brief glimpse),did anybody else see/hear them?

I have only seen Griffin`s in Grey scheme at RAF Akortiri Cyprus, normally they are black/yellow.

Heard them over Armagh at about 20 to 1.

I also seen a 747-400 flying over Armagh below cloud height.

I saw them leaving Aldergrove but it was raining so didnt get a photo unfortunatly.

The Griffin`s went down towards Armagh and then returned to Aldergrove via Coalisland and then straight across Lough Neagh;I saw them return to Aldergrove just after 1400,so they must have stopped off somewhere?

The two Griffin`s I saw mid week were over for a training flight according to my sources.
I don`t know why the RN Lynx`s were in but perhaps it was some recruitment day with the University of Ulster-I would love to see the Ark Royal.

I remember a very sad sight I saw during the late 1970`s when the last really big HMS Ark Royal (F-4 Phantom II`s and Buccaneers`s etc) was being scrapped near Cairnryan.

My parents saw it in Malta 1975 or 76 whilst still in service and they said it took ages for the sightseeing boat they were in to travel the length of it.
