Portrush Airshow 2010
« on: February 03, 2010, 03:58:52 PM »
Got some encouraging indications re. RAF appearances at Portrush.
Haven't lost anything from last year and indeed gained a couple.
Will let you know as soon as it's all confirmed!

That sounds like Red Arrows, Typhoon, Hawk and BBMF can all be expected.

The Vulcan would be a nice 'gain'  :)

Gain is more likely to be the King Air,Grob Tutor,Tucano (cancelled last season) and dare I say it ? A Herc or Chinnook?

Fast jet displays have been severly cut again this year,so unlikely to see Harrier,or a Tornado.

For me the Hawk and Tucano`s displays need a revamp-its all too fast, too far away and too high;a bit pointless really :(

I'd be happy with a King Air or Chinook. A Hercules would leave me mega happy :D

Actually one group I'd like to see, but are rarely mentioned, is the Royal Navy Black Cats. Portrush would make a perfect arena for one of their displays (and they wouldn't be put off by the weather).

They were supossed to appear in 2008 but didn't show for what ever reason. Maybe T.T.F. can shed some light on why they didn't display.

RN Black Cats are superb,I saw them once years ago,Portrush is particularly good for Heli`s as they can come in nice and close.

I would like to see the RAF send something big this year (ie),Hercules,VC-10,Tristar,Globemaster,Nimrod,E3-Sentry AWACS,Sentinel.

Hi angry I'd agree with any of the above. Now a Sentinel, that would be my A380 for Portrush 2010.

Just curious, but have the organisers ever enquired about getting an Irish Air Corps AW139 to appear. They seem to pop up at other UK events. It would be nice to see one at Portrush some time (if funds / availability permitted it).

I see that the Harrier is doing a few displays this year.....  From Shoreham airshow site
Quote
However, we are delighted to announce that the RAF has allocated us one   of very few Harrier displays for 2010. The Harrier has   been sorely missed of the past few years when operations   in Afghanistan meant the Harrier force could not support a solo display   team. We are all looking forward to the jet’s return to Shoreham.

i would love to see one at Portrush too.... ;D
