You make some good points but it won't happen. The event is promoted by Coleraine Borough Council as a tourism driver and won't move away from the north coast. (Ballykelly is in the borough next door). That is why it will always be a free event even if that means we can't afford the best private aircraft on the circuit - it's about getting families up to the coast for the day. It's down to somebody else to charge £30 per head to create a "spotter-friendly" line-up which would mean a smaller crowd. (I mean no disrespect in that last comment). Incidently alot of posts hint that because Portrush is a free show it can't "afford" appearance fees by RAF, RN etc. That's not true - the budget can cope with that - it's all down to what's available on the circuit, on that weekend and if the"owners" wish to allocate it to us.

I just realised after I had posted, that Ballykelly was in a different council area-whoops.

The only other places close to Portrush/Portstwart that could probably accom the airshow would be on Portstwart strand I suppose.

I do hope that something can be done to make the airshow appeal to everyone, and it is successful, but I don`t see how that can happen unless there are big changes made and more effort put into booking different aircraft types.
That all costs money;so I think some sort of admission charge should be made, even if it`s only £5 per car or £2 per person.(just examples)

Thanks for the update TTF, interesting to read about the change of venue being mooted, i thnik i can take a couple of guesses (probably wrongly though !)
Can i ask if there are attempts to get aircraft from other airforces over, or if the suggestion of creating some more sea attractions is one that you are looking at ?
Cheers
P
