Warehouse builders find WWII aircraft
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:47:57 PM »
The remains of a crashed World War II fighter plane have been uncovered by builders working on the new John Lewis distrbution centre in Milton Keynes.

Among the wreckage from the Mosquito aircraft was the plane’s Rolls Royce Merlin engine and guns and ammunition, although the wooden fuselage had long-since rotted away.

The wreck came to light during the building of foundations for the gatehouse. After striking a heavy object hidden in the mud the builders contacted the police who in turn brought in the Royal Air Force.
