Navy v Notre Dame Sep 1th Dublin
« on: August 07, 2012, 09:17:12 PM »
Just a reminder that this game takes place in Dublin this year and there are a few extra flights due into DUB for it...
So far I have hear that there are a couple of World Airways MD 11s due in and  either 1 x Atlas 763 or 1 x 744 (passenger) operated by SonAir....so far.... ;D

Almost forgot that the USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43) is also due into Dublin port as well.....

I had to look this up to actually see what it was all about, I thought it was some sort of military war games or something!

Now I see it's an American football game on Irish soil, so what sort of air traffic can we expect and on which day, the Friday or the Saturday? I think a trip down to DUB may be warrented on the Friday and maybe the Sunday for departures. So far there's the 2x World Airways MD-11's, Atlas Air 747 and Miama Air 737. Anything else?

There are 30,000 Americans due over so we can expect a lot of extra flights by all the carrier's that fly trans-Atlantic...
on top of that there will be lots of private jets with a Global express and a Atlas Air 763 due in as well, Aer lingus are also leasing a 767 for Sunday, most likely a North American and if that wasn't enough there is also a Air China A330 due in around midday on Saturday, possibly leaving for Shannon that Evening/Afternoon.....

Good job the weather is looking ok for the weekend.... ;D

The United States Naval Academy will host the University of Notre Dame this September 1st in their annual NCAA fixture. For only the second time since this great fixture started in 1927, the game will be played outside the United States, with Ireland’s Aviva Stadium staging the match. The response from the Irish and American public has been exceptional with tickets selling out almost six months ahead of the game. Over 30,000 US patrons will travel to Dublin for this game, making it one the biggest international sporting events to be staged in Ireland in 2012.

Also there is a lottery for anyone wanting to visit the USS Fort McHenry

Loving the Hercules Don, nice light too! Did you catch the two World Airways MD-11's or waiting until tomorrow to catch them?

Attached is a picture of N272WA MD11, which landed on runway 16 on Friday after a Cityjet RJ85 had blocked runway 28 landing with hydraulic failure. My pictures shall never be as good as some of the experts on this site due to poor equioment & technique, but it is worth a look!

Nice photos. Love the MD-11. You don't seem to see many of those around these days.
