New Designs - Would you buy one?

Hello All,

I have been doing some market research for a European based company that will soon be releasing the worlds first Vertical Take-Off and Landing Personal Air Vehicle.

I have seen lots of interest from people who have seen the prototype but I would like to get some feedback on what you feel about it.

Here are the basic specs. If a platform was avaiable that was certified and capable of the following, would you purchase one?

Seats: 2
Length: 17ft
Hieght: 7ft
Wingspan: 24ft (flight) 14ft (VTOL/Parked)
Max Speed: 200+kts
Max Range: 600 miles
Max Alt: 15000 ft

Cost: Less than £150,000

If I had the money yes I'd buy one, but obviousily there will have to be rules and regulations put in place before anyone can buy one.

Im glad to say NO.... Moller has been playing at this for 30 years and spent over $ 200 Million developing silly designs. The one in the article picture has eight rotary engines...very quiet and efficient....I dont think.

The new design the guys i work for have is a standard certified airframe with a new "bolt on" external lift system. Very simple and very effective.

How many engines does your design use? What is the time scale to prototype? I think these are fantastic ideas but to be honest I can't see how they will be regulated. What if in 30 years from now they are at an affordable price and are bought in large number, do they come under civil aviation authority, vehicle licensing department or will a completely new department have to created for it?

Will you need a pilots license? A  driving license?

Again I think it is a brilliant idea but I have so many questions

It has no internal engine. A Fuel Cell genset charges an on board hybrid battery pack so it is very low noise and high efficiency compared to standard IC engines. The power is distributed to eight electric motors, two in each nacelle for safety. Both the FC and Battery pack are used for VTOL ops and the FC supplies enough energy for conventional forward flight (while also recharging the battery system).

I'm afraid i cannot disclose anything else at this stage. This is just to get peoples interest for now.

I would be very keen to have a go, however like Casper have lots of questions and concerns on regulating such a vehicle.

And Oh Yeah, I think I would need a pay rise as well.
