I was watching a show on Reality TV about UFOs. Do any of you believe in them - do you think that they really are alien spacecraft or are they secret airforce planes? Do you believe in aliens at all?

I do not believe in them.

It is based on personal experience

FIRST

I started my first day of school in Roswell New Mexico, USA

SECOND

I was stationed there in my home town from 1957 until 1960.

There are other reasons but it is to early to get into many of the other things I have learned along the way since leaving Walker AFB NM/USA in 1960

I beleive in UFO's, such as top secret aircraft that have not been unveiled to the public, after all why else have Area 51. As for life on other planets well yes i believe there is, but as to wether they have visited Earth, i doubt it.

I guess I'd like to believe that they're either alien craft or top secret craft or both. I'm a strong believer in life on other planets, even intelligent life - have they made it this far? I hope so.

So waldo, there was no crashed space ship or aliens at Roswell :)

I believe that if the existence of aliens was ever released it would blow religion out of the water - can you imagine telling the Catholic church that the virgin birth was due to artificial insemination, or that Jesus was a genetically modified human, or that the whole Bible is just one huge science experiment.

Chris

My thoughts are along the same lines as yours. When I was a young man flying at night just north of the White Sands Missle Range in 1964, I recall talking to Albuquerque centre about traffic in range of us travelling an estimated speed of 4 times that of the fastest planes in the military inventory.

In later years I learned of the YF-12 and later the SR-71 that made their early flights during that period of time. At the time of the incedents mode C transponders were not common.

The traffic being pointed out was probably high above and without lights.

As for Roswell,

My thoughts are, it was one of the first two stage rockets and the payload was rubber test dummies molded to look like space creatures and only a few locals saw them from a distance and played up on the humor to the point of being an embarassmnt to the military.

I believe the flight originated from the White Sands range and the wreckage was mostly gone.

except for scraps when the locals got there.

My uncle worked as a civil service employee at the range in crash recovery but he didn't tell me anything of the Roswell incedent but shared many stories about rumors vs facts.

As I look at my previous post I realize it might not have been clear.

Some of the "locals" were invited by officials to come and help with the clean up. One of them operated a welding shop in Roswell. There were others at the site of course that came uninvited.

I think it is very possible that the "space ship" was a WAC Corporal sitting on top of a V-2 and maybe didn't fire but came off the V-2 at altitude with a parachute that let it return for a easy landing. (the surprise might have been that the parachute didn't open) or the WAC misfired.

It is not impossible that the ballast for the WAC was made to resemble "creatures".

Anyone who knows a scientist understands that their humor can be pretty original when it comes time for things like the design of ballast.

There were officially 2 of the V-2 rockets fired from the range that month as well as a WAC

But surely all of the eye witnesses couldn't have been mistaken? What about the funeral director that had to supply a number of small coffins to the base? Or the nurse that said she witnessed a number of small bodies in the base hospital and was told to forget what she had seen.

As for other cases I can't believe that they're all mistaken or that they are witnessing secret government craft. I'm not saying they are alien in nature but I do believe there is that remote possibility that they are.

Do you believe Bob Lazar when he says that the US government has a number of alien spacecraft at Area 51?

Hello again Casper,

This is a pretty interesting thread for barnstormer who specializes in travel across the country low enough to read water towers.

Roswell first!

I do not discredit anything that was said by the Ballard funeral home director. It was one of the longest most respected businesses in the Pecos valley.

If there were remains at the site to be picked up I would first link the information to official records found at www.worldspaceflight.com/america/primate.htm

Looking there you will notice that a number of monkeys died on impact in V-2 impacts. I think it may be that when the Roswell became a bag of worms with the coverup the government just decided to tell th truth about who the creatures were, beginning in 1948.

As for Area 51

I have worked at airshows with the jet cars since 1976. Becuse of the fact tat Bob Lazar once owned one and also worked at Los Alamos I place a lot of trust in the wbsite that tells more about him.

Area 51 became public long before it was intended

The answer to that is obvious...top secret midget pilots!

Not meant to offend anyone, btw.

May they rest in peace, those graceful masters of the sky...

Happiness is Tomcat-Shaped.

I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning.

So all those trained observers, pilots, military personnel etc are only seeing aircraft? The majority probably are but there is a small percentage of sightings that can't be explained. I'm not saying that they're little green men but they are 'unidentified'
