I think they are a bit sick of me tbh lol. Though they never usually give them out, which is why I asked here.

Weather forecast for Newcastle on Saturday doesn`t look great at this stage-some very heavy showers expected in the afternoon, hopefully things will improve.

Get the waterproofs and brolly`s ready. :(

Now showing showers will come late afternoon, so a good lot of the display will be finished

They were talking about 'going back to the drawing board' the other day with the seafire/seafury unable to take part. So I think they may try and replace them, probably a PC9 4 ship I would say at this late notice. Though it was suggested to Down Council to replace them with the Newcastle Jet Provost to which Jeff Salter said he would consider it.

Does anyone have contact details for the organisers?

I have spoken to Neil McCarthy the owner of the provost and he is up for joing the display.

https://www.facebook.com/DownFestivals?fref=ts is their facebook, they are usually pretty good at responding. If not, contact the council and asked to be put through to the festivals department I would think.

Ok, will do. He seems genuinly interested in doing it as he is pretty pissed off at the UAS open day being canceled.

I already suggested Neil to Jeff Salter the co-ordinator and he did say it woulld be considered but that DDC had pretty much used up their allocated fuel expenses for aircraft.I spoke to Neil at the Spitfire unveiling at LK and he told me too that he really wanted to do our Newcastle at some stage[one Newcastle to another :)  ]

Hopefully now that both the Sea Fire and the Irish Historic Flight team are no longer coming it might mean there is a few ££ available. He says he would just do it for cost with no extras.

Yeah, I sent him all the email addresses I had and the phone number of the festival office so hopefully they can work together and sort something.

So just as a matter of interest, and weather permitting of course, is anyone still planning to head up to the quarry to spot?

Don't suppose anyone knows which of the Typhoons is scheduled? not sure if they even say in advance.

The 2 are the XXX tail and D-Day Stripes. Would love to see the D-Day stripes in Newcastle on Saturday.

Saw them both at Fairford. Prefer the XXX tail  :)

I was wondering about that myself-might be a bit too far away for a decent view, and if the weather is ropey it could be pretty bleak up there.
I had intended to to a bit of a recce, but never got around to it-pics from other members seemed like it would be a good place to view, but possibly not the best for photos- Slieve Donard Hotel looks to be the best for close in shots.
Still not sure what the best option is.

More jets for Newcastle!

Quote
Newcastle for Newcastle!

After the unfortunate unserviceablity of the Seafire and the even more unfortunate incident involving the Seafury last week we are grateful to Neil McCarthy for stepping in at very short notice with the Newcastle Jet Provost.

Neil's aircraft brings the total number of jets at this year's event to 19. A number never before seen at any display in Northern Ireland!

That forecast is changing non stop lol. Sometimes it gives it clear until 4/5pm other times raining all day.

Though if I remember rightly, it gave rain last year for the show, and it didn't rain until the show ended.

So just as a matter of interest, and weather permitting of course, is anyone still planning to head up to the quarry to spot?

When I climbed up there in May, I pretty much ruled it out purely because of the treeline that obscures some of the display and also the fact that at the time I only had a 300mm lens!  Now I have a 500mm I still don't think I will head up, even if the trees are cut down a bit!

I might just take my chance again with the locals, possibly away from the main crowds.

Latest forecast has the rain holding off until about half way through the show with sunny and 1% cloud cover.
