A friend of mine was telling me last night that a Scottish mp was saying that the Vulcan should not be given an funding after they refused to admit that they let down several airshows with no regards to the organisers, in fact he made the point as he was at the portrush airshow. he spoke to the airshow group and they said that yes they did agree to display at key events but when the time came they asked for more money which was not available, some councils used money from the council tax to try and raise the extra money but this caused some problems too, according to the web site they are asking for £1million of funding to keep the Vulcan flying, well this mp said that the owners of the Vulcan should be held responsable for this problem they caused. And that the people who care about this aircraft should be involved more. What do you think.

I know that the weather was bad in england, but at an event marked on thier website was in june and they asked for £50,000 extra but the council could not get extra funding. I think he was a bit rough in some areas but i can't understand why the people who run the vulcan tried to ask for money they must have known was not available, i don't know who the mp was as my freind did not get it.

I think the Vulcan should stay grounded.If £1,000,000 is going to have to be raised every so often (the most of which is probably going towards inflated salaries of certain individuals involved),plus the large fees they charge the airshow organisers,it's far too costly a project.

I think if people feel strongly about keeping it flying then donate or raise money for it by all means. But the 'owners' shouldn't change appearance fees - set a fee and stick to it. Certainly if they were a business they would be out of business doing that - 'Ah we've decided to change the price of our product from £10 to £20', just doesn't work in the real world.

Just been told that it was raised at the scottish parliment the msp's will talk to gordon brown about it as some of them were involved in the project at sometime. the mp also said in the current finiacial climate it may be impossible to raise such funds, even from the private sector.

As I have mentioned before the Vulcan To The Sky (operators of the Vulcan) are a total disgrace.They agreed fees with several airshows and then at the last minute wanted more money-thats why Coleraine Council told them no and the Vulcan did not appear at Portrush.

Many aviation groups and airport operators bent over backwards to bring the Vulcan over and to be blunt the VTTS basically did two fingers to them-I raised over £500 myself and gave it as a donation to the aircraft-I won`t be doing that again! 

I hope the Vulcan is grounded and hopefully somebody with an ounce of decency will take over the running of the project.
To be honest I don`t see that happening-the Vulcan must have been a fantastic spectacle to those few who were lucky enough to see her fly,but the sad fact remains that the shoddy running of the operation has left many with a bad taste in their mouths.
I feel the money spent on funding the Vulcan would have been put to better use restoring other more viaable aircraft projects.The Vulcan has a number of surviving types and at least two that are in taxiing condition.
Would it not be better to have another Lancaster in the air or a Mosquito?
The Vulcan was always going to be a money eater-and I think the VTTS have shot themselves in the foot.

Having only contributed a small amount of money towards the VTTS, I do feel let down by the whole thing. The excitement it created when it was to make an appearance to Portrush was amazing. Coincidently, it's how I discovered this website

If it is to be grounded, I sure would love to see it flying before it happens! How about a Victor to the Skies restoration project
