OK ready for some more great news? I've had to sit on this for 2 weeks and I've been itching to tell.

I got a call from Airbus and they asked if we'd be interested in displaying one of their planes at Portrush. Naturally I said yes, and asked which one. He says, "Oh its the 380"

I nearly fell off the chair.

So, Saturday 5th, about 2.30pm, shes coming in over the bay and the pilot has promised to "leave the crowd amazed".

What a sight with the Navy ship in same shot.

HOLY CRAP !!! lol, i am currently have goosebumps !!!!! (see cant even string a sentacne together)

Also when are the organisers going to confirm this?

If true, fantastic stuff. It's the last aircraft I'd ever have expected to display at Portrush but perhaps one of the best at any display. Good stuff from Airbus!

Hopefully it will make an appearance! Thanks for the heads up TTF. Wonder if it will appear on the Portrush Airshow website?

and some good news for me this morning as I just received confirmation of my flight on the Sea King.  I just have to worry about the usual cancellations now due to operational commitments/aircraft serviceability or adverse weather!

I've my fingers crossed for the A380! I saw a Singapore Airlines one at Heathrow a few weeks back (sitting on the tarmac). Would love to see the bird flying over Portrush!

What's the latest on the Typhoon(s) for the Saturday? Is the plan still to have two flying?

If so, what are they doing - a straight flypast or two?

I'm looking to see a full Typhoon display routine, but the Sunday is looking 50/50 for me now. I'm hoping that one Typhoon will do a full routine on the Sat. However, if that's not the case then I'll have to pull something out of the hat and try and make it on the Sunday!!

Getting better - the two Typhoons will still do the flypast on Saturday but then one will go straight into a display (fuel permitting).

I received an invitation from the Royal Navy about 2 months ago so was just waiting on the security clearance.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Please let it be true, surely the organisers will have to announce it soon. It will be a big draw.

We are now planning to rent the piper and fly up from Waterford. Anyone know if the organisers have set up a certain airfield for the event? Kinda like what Fairford do. If not Ill have to hit google!

What about Bellarena Airfield, a number of display aircraft make use of this landing strip during airshow weekend.

Looks like it started back in 1998.

I tried to join a couple of times previously but no one bothered to reply to my emails.

This forum is a good source of info now.

It's great hearing that people will be travelling from Southern Ireland for the Portrush Airshow. Hope you guys enjoy it  ;D

Although bad news, it seems the weather forecast at the moment is for dark clouds and rain  :(

I know Dave :( The piper is just VFR rated unfornately, if it was IFR we'd be sorted either way! Im praying for clear skies and sunshine!

Thanks for the welcome Casper. By the time TTF has finished we'll be getting a flypast by Airforce 1 and the Shuttle and the QE2 will be in the Bay with the Corgis watching :D. Looks like a great show and we can't wait. We usually watch from the centre of west bay but this year we might venture up to Ramor head or black rock. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well I always watch from Ramore Head, just love the fact that the helos come in over your head to land in the tennis courts. I also find that some of the aircraft can get a wee bit close to the cliff which is great.
