« on: March 15, 2009, 09:28:35 AM »
Just wondering how others fair when uploading to the main image gallerys? My tally to date is:

A.net = 1 :( (sad I know)
Airplane-Pictures.net = 103
Jetphotos.net = 14
Photos.aero = 52

A.net = 12 but I hope to start uploading all suitable jetphotos there at some point.

Jetphotos.net = 237 with another 18 in the queue.

Photos.aero = 263

I prefer uploading at jetphotos.net as in general I like how the site works. Much easier to use than airliners.net and perhaps a bit more 'relaxed' with photo standards. I joined photos.aero as I know the guy who runs it and I am friend's with one of the screeners. They have just increased screening standards to that of jetphotos.net in order to gain a better reputation between the big name photographers. Fingers crossed that some day it too will be a big aviation website.

Have you ever tried Airplane-Pictures.net? I think it's a fantastic site.

I must admit i've all but given up on the photo databases - even Air Britain rejected my Navy Merlin pic that A.net accepted!!
I just thought i'd try A.net again after getting Photoshop - i had been using Picasa previously.It can be very demoralising when pics get dissed for what are very trivial reasons,but i do accept that you can't just upload any old tat.

Get yourselves a free fotopic site and you can screen your own pics  ;) ;) ;)

I hadn't heard of it actually. I must check it out actually, although currently Jetphotos.net is my main upload point and I think it'll remain at the top of my list as I think the sites screening is spot on. Not mega strict, and not relaxed.

99% of my rejected shots are soft as I'm still experimenting with sharpening techniques on photoshop and I can't settle on a technique. I just uploaded a few shots to a.net, all of which were rejected due to softness. A.nets sharpening standards are just too strict for my liking. They even rejected one shot for having some small specs of snow in it. Very frustrating and it's just put me right off A.net altogether.

Between my photos on A.net and Jetphotos.net, my photos on the latter have been getting way more views, which for most photographers is the main deciding point on a upload site (I hate to say it but myself incuded!).

I have learnt a lot from rejections on Jetphotos.net thus will remain loyal to them :)

Thought I'd give it ago. Quite an unusual site actually in that they only take the best shots and only 5 a day. I think thats a good combo. The screening process is also good with the possibility to hold a discussion with the screeners. Thanks for recommending the site! You have some great shots on there from Portrush!

Are you saying that A.net rejected that image?

I don`t bother with A.net at all-they are not interested in us amateur's,their screening process is a joke in my opinion.

Yes,it`s fine to keep good standard of pics but A.net are just ridiculous-just takes all the fun out of taking photographs if it gets that serious. ::)

Not much wrong with the Typhoon image,except it is a bit grainy looking-but that is to be expected with the dreadful weather conditions.

Fast moving grey aircraft and grey backround is ALWAYS going to be a challenge,so I think that shot is as good as you are going to get.
