Very Loud aircraft just left BFS-sounded like it could have been a VC-10-rumbled on for ages-any ideas: SBS anyone?

Nothing like the wail of four Rolls Royce Conway`s ;D

Saw them a few times when I worked at BFS,they were still deafening with ear defenders on and that was just taxiing!

Was lucky enough to fly in VC-10`s twice when I was in the air cadets-seats face the tail-I am told it helps to reduce pressure on the ears when climbing or descending, but could be a load of old guff. :D

I also read somewhere that it increases your changes of surviving a crash :)

I was on board a VC10 at the RIAT, and got talking to one of the officers on it. He pointed out the fact that the seats were all reversed to the normal front facing that we are used to, and said that it was for safety. He also said that this would be employed on all aircraft were it not for the fact that most people find it unnerving to face the opposite direction to the direction of travel in aircraft, and that the paying public ultimately decide on what becomes 'the norm'.

And yet on some trains 50% of the passengers would face backwards.

Wayne, are you able to check if there was a VC-10 out of BFS this evening? A pretty loud aircraft just flew over my house at 10.25pm so it would have departed BFS at around 10.20ish.

Probably an A320 or something  ;D

Awesome, thanks for the clarification Angry. I could still hear it 3 minutes after it had flown over so I thought it had to be a VC-10.

Hope all is going well with the move and the compensation company coughs up some money soon.
