Not sure about a live radar site-might have to get an SBS or Airnav system for that.

Personally I just stand about and see what appears :)

Nice shot Angry. Is there a live radar site anywhere on the web that you can see what is comming your way. I've tried ACARSD but i don't seem to get many planes that send their co-ordinates?

Xair

There is some private sharing of data between SBS box owners but nothing live on the 'net.Your best bet would be OpenATC (assuming someone near here uploads data to them). The data is five minutes delayed but if you keep that in mind you would be able to predict when an aircraft will be passing overhead.

Thanks Angry and Blackbird, I've tried the Open ATC tonight but either no one is tracking over NI or all the planes are crashing into the Isle Of Man :o as they stop dead, over the island. I'll have to look into one of these Airnav Boxes.

Caught this today. Triple 7? Also missed a (relatively) low flying 747.

Google 'Planeplotter' as well - it uses data from SBS and Airnav boxes too.I think there is a free trial version, and then a one off fee around £20 for the full version.Don't know if anyone here uploads data to it though.

Edited to add
It's hard to beat having your own box (which can be taken to any location, provided you have a laptop),and knowing exactly what is passing overhead.I've seen them on ebay for between £250 and £300.

Yup, but where on earth is it flying too? Was it flying over Antrim/Down?

When at Belfast International on Sunday evening, during my time there, 4 747's flew directly overhead, none of which had contails, and at least 2 of which were BA 747's.

One of them however was an older model of the 747, likely to be a 747-200. I've no idea of the airline, anyone with an RBS box know? It was Sunday evening, maybe just after 4pm.

Using that radar web site i managed to get this pic of an A340 shown over my house.
Plus a lucky pic of an aer arran with a contrail in the foreground.
you have to enhance the pic slightly to see the other aircraft.
