Fancy an A340 / A350 short-haul return trip?

Noticed this mentioned on airliners.net and thought I'd investigated.

Tucked in amongst Finnair's 'operated by FlyBE' services between Brussels and Helsinki are some widebody services operated for crew training. 

This pair is an A343 to Helsinki and an A359 back to Brussels, apparently...

Surely that's almost twice one would pay on a scheduled flight from London?

You're right, I didn't realise they were doing training flights to Heathrow!

Where did I mention crew training in my post? I merely compared the cost of the economy ticket on the crew training flight to the economy fare London - Helsinki. It would appear that Finnair is subsidising their crew training from pax fares. Then there's the cost of return flights to Brussels.

Still, I suppose there are those who are prepared to pay a lot of money to be one of the first to to fly on a certain type on a certain route. Me... I'd rather have a helicopter flight or a flight in a warbird.

Anyone, for anyone interested in an A350 flight from Heathrow the one you want is flight 840 on 6 October.

Price is the same as any other day on an A320...
