UAS Exhibits
« on: July 18, 2009, 08:03:21 PM »
As most will know the Ulster Aviation Society has a number of aircraft exhibits that will never see the light of day until our politians stop their bickering and decide on what to do with the Maze development. I was thinking of contacting the UAS to see if they would open their exhibits to a group visit - would anyone be interested if they agreed to it?

I'd be up for it although I was told only small groups or 2 or 3 people who be allowed because of all the work equipment there etc. Worth trying though :) I'd love to see the Shorts 330 with the wings back on again.  8)

I could organise that for you-I did offer before,so I will make a few enquires and see when it could be done-The Society normally close for the summer due to lack of people to staff the place but I will sort something out.

OK,leave it with me and I will see what I can sort out-might be the end of the week before I know and as I mentioned the UAS take a Summer break so might be a bit more tricky to organise.

Hi guys

Happened to see this post while I was having a nosey on the site.

I am a member of the UAS and I am down at the LK site every Saturday. You have to be a member to visit the hangers as there is still a lot of building work on site and for insurance reasons only members are covered.

If you contact me off the forum I will pass on the email address of who you should get in touch with.

Hi, I'm also a member of the UAS, although I'm yet to visit the hangar down at the maze.

The society has got at least 11 or 12 aircraft in total, that includes a Buccaneer, Wessex, Tucano, 330, Seahawk.  They've also aquired a Alouette III helicopter from the IAC recently.

The Wessex sounds quite exciting actually, I was perhaps a bit too young to see them flying about Northern Ireland.

I intended joining the UAS at the start of summer, but havn't got around to it. If I could send the fee online it would be so much handier than sending off a cheque. Glad to see some UAS members joining up with the board.  ;D

You can still print the application forms out, I think, online.

I printed mine out and brought it and a cheque with me the first day I went to the hanger, sorted.

The magazine you get every few weeks is great and the lads down at the hanger are a nice bunch.  I wish I had joined years ago as there is so much more to the Society than just liking aviation.

Yes, the form's still there to print out online, but the only difference today is that the address to send it to has now changed.  The society changed it back in May, I think.

I printed out the form online and sent it with a cheque when I first joined back in 2003.  Everytime I renew my membership now, I just send a cheque along with the form that's always sent with the magazine.
