A350-1000 first flight this morning

Buggeration, I completely forgot about this today.  F-WMIL took-off about 09:42 UTC, still airborne as of 10:17.

I've only seen the preceding -900 go overhead twice, one was the prototype returning from Iceland and there was a Qatari one early one hazy morning in September.

Seen the -900 flying at farnborough. It's such a pretty bird!!

Personally, I think it looks a bit ungainly! For me, the 787 is much more graceful...but we all see things differently!

The construction differences between the two are interesting. Boeing have the more complex spun fuselage barrels, where Airbus use giant carbon skins over conventional frames. But in the wings, Airbus go all carbon, whereas Boeing still use aluminium ribs.
