Seen this on bbc news.

Freak accident or are onlookers at st. maarten an accident waiting to happen?

Bad job either way.

In some clips you see folk hanging onto the wire purposely trying to cling on as long as possible.

Sad but I suppose only a question of time.

Mrs AT wants to do that,despite me pointing out the dangers-there has been talk of using blast deflectors there,but space is very limited.
I believe the police are often nearby and you can be arrested if you push your luck.
Perhaps those who have been there could tell us more.......... :)

Its great fun to do! My wife and I both went fence clinging. I doubt it will end the practice as the tourists spend money in the bars and restaurants at the beach.

Agreed, it was the highlight of our cruise and was just disappointed to have to miss an A 340 take off.

Signage is clear and the risks obvious, but it's still a bucket list item and would be a shame to see it prevented
