I was flicking through the RIAT programme last night and it mentioned how Portrush was one of the RAF 100th Major events.

Quote
Other major public events throughout the centenary year include the Edinburgh Tattoo and the Cosford, Farnborough  Scampton Swansea and Portrush Airshows.  Overseas's air-forces are likely to participate in major events -  A reflection of the RAFs enduring partnerships which the service has forged around the world.

Interesting from the RAF, though I assume Portrush date is wrong? https://www.raf.mod.uk/raf100/about/

Interesting! I'm guessing this means flypast formations from the RAF at Newcastle and Portrush?

The 'National Tour' may actually be 4 aircraft from the RAF museums taking to the road and being on static for the various shows. According to a post on Fighter Control yesterday.

It's gonna be tricky getting them on static display at Newcastle & Portrush unless they are all helos!  ;D

Scottish International Airshow to take a break
« Reply #15 on: December 19, 2017, 04:53:38 PM »
Seems like there are more money issues for the Scottish International Airshow. It was reported a few weeks ago the council would not support the money needed. Today it has announced it will take a break after 2018 and return in 2020

Swiss F18 confirmed for Scotland, I wonder if Portrush might get it too, or if the restrictions on the F16 from last year also apply on F18?

Also it lists them for Newcastle Festival Of Flight 11th and 12th August.

So perhaps the show is two days after all? Info on the Newcastle show always seems to be rather tricky to find. :-\

They still want Newcastle to be two days. Discussions with flight director are on going to see what can be delivered within budget.

One council member in his infinite wisdom asked if the show even needs a flight director if its only a one day show.
