Queen's Review Flypast 1953
« on: December 08, 2017, 03:49:23 PM »
With the RAF due to put-up a 'maximum effort' Royal Review flypast on 13 July 2018 I thought I'd dig-out some details of the Review of 15 July 1953.

Interestingly nine Shackletons from Ballykelly were involved amongst the 641* aircraft flying in procession  :o

Do we even have that many airframes nowadays?

* well OK deduct the Canucks and Aussies and it was just 593...

I may have some old photos of this in a book somewhere. I would have loved to be alive back then. If time travel does ever become a reality in our time, I think I know where I am going lol.

I'll see if I can find them.

Taken from a book that wouldn't quite fit into my Scanner.

RIAT 2002 Programme.

Excellent, thank you!  318 more on static, incredible.  Almost more than I could look at!  But not quite.

Pathé News footage of the flypast:

A great pity not to have the numbers any longer.  Great to look back.  Reminds me of what we used to see at Aldergrove, etc.
