Aldergrove Visit
« on: January 29, 2010, 01:28:33 PM »
With the Casement visit gaining speed I was wondering if anyone would be up for a visit to Aldergrove? If so I'll contact them and see if I can get the ball rolling.

Nothing specific in mind. I know as RAF Aldergrove they did tours but basically told you when it was.

Been there a few times with the RAeS who have a really good relationship with Aldergrove.

From what I've seen they're always more than happy to have groups come and visit.

With the departure of 230 Sqn I'm curious as to what aircraft are actually there. According to the site there are only two squadrons present, 651 & 665 (Defenders & Gazelles).

Are there other aircraft cycling through?

I have been there a few times to the Air Traffic and a few family days and with the Air Cadets.

The AAC and PSNI ASU are all that is based there now but I would still be interested in tour.

OK, either I suck at writing requests for information or I'm being totally ignored. I've sent two emails of to Aldergrove (two different addresses) and as yet have received not even an acknowledgement. I also sent an email to the PR person at Belfast International expressing an interest in a tour of the airport and again absolutely nothing. Even a p1ss off we don't do tours would do, but to be totally blanked ???????

A tour JHC Aldergrove should not be a problem-maybe the personnel that used to handle such things were RAF and as yet the task has not been re-allocated.

Regarding a tour of the airport;that`s extremely unlikely-too much security and passes to worry about.
