Thsi is a strange matter, I spoke to my local councilor yesterday evening and i asked him what the reason was behind the decission and he told me that they had a meeting behind closed doors didn't inform the chamber of comerce or the sponsors. he was not privvy to the outcome but he suggested that it was more political than finacial as for the M.O.D he said they have gone out of their way to put forward as much as they can. So who would benefit from this decission to cancel?

I have also been advised that this will be on the agenda for next weeks council meeting.
We should all go along at 7.30 into the public gallery to see who says what and to show our support for reinstatement of the airshow, the meeting is at 7.30pm on Tuesday

I was speaking to a local trader who has a buisness in portrush he can't wait to find out who made the decission to cancel why they did it and who did it benefit. he will be at that meeting and he said if the airshow dosn't go ahead it will cost him around £100.000 with the credit crunch still affecting the area the airshow would actually help traders in portrush.

Councillors in Coleraine have voted to hold the International Air Show after local businesses agreed to finance it.
Last month, the council said it was cancelling this year's show because it did not have the £70,000 to £80,000 it normally contributes.
However, the borough's chamber of commerce has agreed to cover the cost.
Lord Mayor Sandy Gilkinson said he was delighted to confirm that the event would take place at West Bay in Portrush in September. He added: "On behalf of Coleraine Borough Council, I wish to thank the local business community and the chamber for coming together to save this spectacular event.
"It shows tremendous spirit in a difficult economic period."
