Weather permitting... they always cancel, or just send one aircraft.  Last time the Lancaster made it was 2016?

Yeah, 2016.

2017 & 2018 it cancelled due to weather.  The last show in Portrush had the Dakota down for coming, but it cancelled.

Shockingly, that was 8 years ago now. 2014 had the 2 Lancasters.

Not to be negative towards the organisers - they can't predict the weather, and sometimes, the cancellation wasn't due to weather and a reason was never really given.

Anyway, accommodation booked for the weekend.  I hope it's as good as it's being hyped up to be (by the council that is).

Chinook not coming either day.  So much for a great line up.

I don't think the Chinook not being there means its not a good line-up. Early days, still a few jets etc to be announced gong by press releases and what was applied for (see earlier posts).

But I don't think the show orginisers applied for the Chinook though, it wasn't on the list of RAF assets they had requested going by previous council meeting minutes. Chinook has never been to Portrush (cancelled in 2016)

Another one that hasn't been here is The Black Cats (Royal Navy Lynx Display Team).

Personally I think that's part of the problem; it sounds like the organisers keep limiting themselves to the same things year after year.

They should be requesting every display act they can think of. Granted 70-80% might decline or not be available but if you don't ask, you don't get.

I agree, also I wonder how the crowdline is going to work,clearly the road will have to be closed and also I am sure the Par 3 golf course will not want people trampling over it.
I hope they can sort out the dreadful after show traffic, but I would not hold my breath.

I would tend to disagree - the Chinook puts on an awesome display.  It's RAF - and this air show was/is being billed as celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee?  Not having one of the RAF's best displays present just looks bad, IMO.

It isn't even the case that it's elsewhere on both days.  As someone else said, the organisers go for the same thing, year after year.  I would just to go one of the big England ones this year, but family commitments have restricted this.

They implemented a 'Park-n-Ride' for 'The Open' when it was on at Royal Portrush.

I've never understood why the airshow organisers didn't do the same.

Wont be there, Duxford for me.

Duxfords September show was fantatic last year, I did both days. Made the choice not to do their September show and go to Portrush instead as I am doing Duxford's season ending airshow in October. If the 2 didn't clash I probably would have been at Duxford in September.

Unfortunately it looks like Sally B won't be appearing this year either - they have posted their display dates - NI isn't one of them.

Yeah, it's at the Duxford Battle of Britain show the same weekend, which I did expect.

Portrush are up against both Duxford and Sanicole that weekend, so it will be very hard for them to attract bigger displays jet wise (Sanicole) or Warbirds(Duxford)

Their plans were ambitious, but the more aircraft that they applied for release their schedules, the more don't have Portrush on them. I do hope they have some new displays up their slieves but it looks like it will be the same old, same old for now. As more displays release their schedule, Portrush is yet to be seen on any of them outside of RAF.

If it`s going to be a mainly RAF line up military wise, then perhaps it would be an idea to request some of the less often seen RAF types, even just for a few passes if a display is not feasible.
Things like the A400M, Poseidon MRA 1, the RC-135W Rivet Joint, the Texan T1 and of course the F-35.

Also ask the USAF and USN if they have anything they could divert for a few passes to / or from Europe, such as a C-5M, or some F-15`s to make some noise.
I really hope it`s not going to be the same stuff yet again, otherwise there isn`t much point in going. Everyone wants to see new displays and a range of types, not just the airshow regulars.
