« on: June 17, 2021, 05:18:56 PM »
I don't have times yet but the Reds will be doing flypasts over Carrickfergus and Belfast on Saturday 19 June 2021.

They're positioning into EGPK Prestwick tomorrow 18 June.

Carrickfergus is supposed to be the venue for this years Armed Forces Day but I haven't seen any information about it other than an article in the BT confirming the venue.

HMS Charger is currently in Belfast. I’d guess Express is with her

I have checked NOTAMS ,Transit charts, temporary closed air space notifications and no mention of times.
Not even Belfast live mention them soaring and swooping above majestic Carrickfergus castle.

Could be a misunderstanding then. They'll arrive in Prestwick later this morning and we'll just have to see what happens .

Some chat on social media over the weekend - the Reds did two passes Carrick in the morning, but didn't fly past Carrick at 2pm, as was 'planned' - some said it was because the crowd was getting so big at Carrick, others said they were only paid for two passes, and that's what they did.

Who knows. ::) ???

Did they not go back out over Carrick at 2.15? I heard them on the radio and they were heading towards Belfast direction.

Simply no pleasing some people, and we all know you will always get moaners on social media.

Reading the NOTAM they were to transit back to Scampton, passing Carrickfergus, it does not say they would make another formation flypast over the town, and these things are always subject to change in any case.

This is it - I think the afternoon pass was listed on the Carrick Armed Forces day timetable - maybe they were just hoping they would pass back over.

Not sure what route they took home, but it didn't appear to be anywhere near Carrick.

Looks like the plane the Parachute team used was unable to clear the airspace in time for the 2:15pm flypast so Red Arrows had to re-route on the way out of NI.

Tbh I think they done more at aldergrove, they done a pass then a full roll and hammer break before landing, then on departure the final 3 had the smoke going all the way down the runway and beyond lol.

To be honest thats what they usually do when arriving and departing an airport if possible. I think people are forgetting it was only a fly past and not a full blown show. Again as someone mentioned its probably to keep the size of the crowd to a minimum due to covid which would also explain why there wasnt much about armed forces day in general listed in the media??
