BBMF Visit
« on: March 28, 2010, 12:22:50 PM »
Due to prolonged talks in the hammerhead house im getting two trips accross the sea this year  ;D
one of the trips im hoping to take is to a airshow  ;D ;D    However im also looking a a trip across to RAF Coningsby to see the BBMF up close and hopefully a look at some more modern stuff too...
I was wondering if anyone else would fancy joining me??

Ryanair Flights from Dublin to East midlands are €5 each way at the moment and the train would cost £11 return with a 8 mile taxi trip between the station and Coningsby at the end so im hoping to do the whole day for about £70 ...

Leaving Dublin at 8am and getting back around 10pm with around 5 hours   at Coningsby

Im hoping to do the trip on the 12th of May as thats a day that all the BBMF flight will be at home apart from the Dak ...

More info on the BBMF center...http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/section.asp?sectiontype=listmixed&&catid=9921&docid=46334

Would certainly be interested in a trip to Coningsby.

Don't know if you looked at hiring a car but you could get one from Hertz (@ East Midlands) for £45 for the day.

Have you already booked your flight?

Conningsby would be a great place to visit-I am away in Italy that week so can`t make it. :D

Try and insure you get a group together if you want a tour around because I know they only take group tours and you probably need to pre-book.

Sorry for the delay in replying but things have been a bit hectic here for the last few days.... ::)
I was in contact with the Officer in charge of visits at RAF Coningsby yesterday and he informed me that due to'' operational commitments'' they were not doing base visits for the forseeable future which has put me off the idea of going as it would be a long way to go if the weather was not good...
