Aircraft ID help
« on: July 10, 2022, 07:43:48 PM »
I’m not expecting much back on this one but it’s worth a punt!

At about 13:35 I was in Murlough Bay near Ballycastle. Sky gazing as you do and saw an aircraft going over. No contrails and strangely no usual aeroplane shape. It was hard to describe. It was incredibly still day but no engine noise. I considered it may be a drone but usually you hear them before you see them-again nothing with this. It headed on a straight line south west. I had no signal at the time so couldn’t check the usual apps. FR24 had nothing on playback

Cheers in advance

Probably a Rutan Longeze from Eglinton or Ards... they are a very unusual looking machine, and create reports like this!

I've seen a Rutan show up on radar in that area a few times in the past

Strange look to them.

I had a dig in my photo collection and found this shot of Team Riva from a good few years back I took at St.Angelo. They operated 2x Varieze and 1x Longeze aircraft.
