All airports to open at 10pm tonite, looks like the BA holding over the IOM might get in.

Hi tonight has been the best value ever from a radio and Radarbox, over the past two hours.
 
This has been  / is facinating stuff. I think there will be as much fallout from this episode as the volcano produced.

BAW flights refused landing permission are presently showing on my box as BAW84 holding between IOM and NI Coastline, BAW 17V, 284 and 274 holding Shannon area, BAW 9120 and 206 were holding Landsend possibly now headed shannon and BAW102 is headed south again.
 
 
I think the stand off has forced the hand of the authorities it will be interesting to listen to the news later. The Pilots seemed happy to be holding they had the fuel and alternatives and seemed convinced that "with background discussions" taking place they would get to land at Heathrow and Gatwick. Not many aircraft up but just about the most memorable experiences of this hobby.

I think broadcasting live ATC from the UK is illegal, but i could be wrong.

Hi i was listning on the Scottish and London civil frequencies as well as Dublin. Facinating stuff this evening, I even mised the Barcelona game. Another site is reporting that there have been 3 reports of a cloud type layer with distinct burning smell at around 6000-5000ft near Heathrow from those inbounds. I think we will be hearing a lot more about this evening over the coming days.

It would seem BA had decided they were going to operate flights to the UK no matter what the CAA and NATS said-I think it is very worrying that safety is being pushed aside purely to satisfy the airlines.
 
There is a great deal we do not know about this ash cloud and to just throw the barn doors open so to speak sounds very dangerous to me.
 
I maybe proved to be wrong,and I hope I am,but undermining the CAA and NATS authority for purely financial reasons is disturbing.
 
Found this item about Finnish F-18`s that flew through the Ash cloud.

A lot of airlines seem to have aircraft coming to the UK, looks like an agreement was made this afternoon or was it an airline ploy to put the squeeze on and get the planes in come what may by NATS and the CAA ?
