LHR - London Heathrow - 15th to 17th June
« on: July 02, 2010, 04:25:05 PM »
Myself and fellow member BHD nipped across to Heathrow, again blessed with fantastic weather for the full two days! This time winds were heading in South Western direction meaning RWY 09's were in use. This side of the airport is effectively countryside compared to the RWY 27's which is mostly built up areas so a nice change from the last trip even though the photography angles are the same :)

We stayed at the ibis hotel which had a view of the Western end of Heathrow thus we could see Concorde and the BA maintenance hangers. Free buses around the perimeter and between the terminals allowed for easy transport during our stay. Of course McDonalds was also close to hand  ;D

Hi Dave, cracking shots as usual. I take it most of these were taken in the evening as the lighting is fantastic.

Thanks! Yes, most were taken during the evening light. Both evenings we had were equally crystal clear with light being good until 10pm or so however by 9.30pm we were quite hungry so opted to head to McD's. Unfortunately we just missed out on the Qatar Government A340-500 :(

The Virgin and Thai Retro were taken in the morning at around 6.30am  ;D
