Great photos Paul.

I thought I would add my two cents worth about the Portrush Airshow.

I thought the Portrush Airshow was awful. I appreciate you can't legislate for the weather. I headed down on Saturday and was that disgusted didn't bother going down on the Sunday. Firstly, Portrush doesn't have the infrastructure to cope with crowds of people that attend. I think the volume of people this year was well down from last year, even so it still took me two and a half hours to get out of Portrush town at the end. Finding a decent parking space in the town itself is near impossible. I think maybe a park and ride service might be an idea. The flying display was a disappointing. The Eurofighter Typhoon was advertised to be there at 5 before the Red Arrows it didn't arrive. Then it was to close the show after the Red arrows, it didn't arrive. The commentator said that due to the weather it couldn't get across the Irish Sea, (What!!!! its an all weather fast jet.) Then to add insult to my disappointment as I sat in traffic to go home at 7pm it appeared and did its display.

I am a veteran to many airshows in the mainland, my favourite being RIAT which I have attended every year for the last 10 years and maybe my expectations are too high for this country of ours to put on an well organised decent show.

Anyway sorry for the rant and if you attended and enjoyed it that's great but I don't think I will go again if its on .

The Bird Dog and Magister look like they've been cropped heavily. They're also very grainy - were you using a high ISO e.g. 800 or 1600? The twister Duo is a lovely shot.

The cloud was sobad that i had to use my built-in flash it reduces the shutter speed and changes the iso so i don't know what it was reading i think it was reset to auto-iso. I was very very P*****-off with the pic's some of the shot's looked very far out i was using my 74-300mm lens but they were just crap, But im sure with more practice i will get them right or just buy a better camera for next year.

To be honest that's a total waste of time - your built in flash won't illuminate anything more than 8-10ft away. I would turn of the auto iso and just manually select it. The Sony you have has built in stablisation (as far as I know) so you should be able to get lower shutter speeds at the longer zoom lengths.

The thing with portrush these days is that now with the display line so far away, and only small aircraft displaying, it's hard getting an aircraft to fill the frame now. And together with the poor weather with terrible light, it's hard to get any decent photographs now at the airshow.
