just heard that the RAF tornado's are not being axed this was on sky news. :o

The GR4A`s are being retained (for how long is anybody`s guess) but the F.3`s have already started to be withdrawn from service.

All the F.3's based at Leuchars have already been replaced with Typhoons. Handover took place just before the airshow last month.

F3s don't get withdrawn to March 11

111 Sqd at Leuchars is the last Tornado F.3 Sqd and it`s aircraft will retire in March 2011;all the others (25Sqd) have already been retired Sept 2009.
