Chinook ZH903
« on: October 31, 2010, 10:27:42 AM »
Re Chinook ZH903, I see this on my Radarbox. I wonder if it might be inbound Belfast as the recovery vehicle for G-SEWP the PSNI helicopter which crashed in the Mournes?

It was on the news that the crashed helicopter was to be airlifted from the Mournes today, so it could be.

Probably not prepared to risk a Puma (there's doesn't seem to be much wreckage to lift) - the Wokka will be able to cope should the wind pick up during the task.

I thought the PSNI would have finished using this helicopter now they have one of the larger Eurocopters.

With the Islander, 2 Eurocopters and this bent one it looks like the PSNI Air Support Unit must be on the up and up (Please excuse the pun)

Is all this Air Support value for money?? How many beat officers would you get for the price of a new Eurocopter 145???
