Belfast City Airport - 9/1/11 (including bmibaby)
« on: January 09, 2011, 05:55:20 PM »
Hey guys, hope you all had a good New Year. Like Don, I opted to have my first outing of 2011 today.  ;D  I headed down to BHD for an hour to try out a new camera (canon 7D) I got during the week as well as to see if bmibaby would put in appearance. I had a few added bonuses as well, caught the Manx2 Metroliner for the first time, and also caught the FlyBE Eco Q400 as well. A few too many clouds for my liking but the shots all came out well anyhow.

Nice to see the older 737 above the skyline of Belfast!  ;D  Certainly noiser than the 737NG's of Ryanair.

Rats  >:(

Was all for going to BHD today to try out my new 55-300mm lens and then decided not to go.

You got a nice day for it Dave, despite the clouds  :)

I`m sure the BMI Baby 737`s will soon start to bug the local residents  ;D

Thanks guys!

Merlin, I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the 55-300mm when you get the chance to use it, sounds like a good range for aviation photography at least.

Angry, looking through the originals of todays photos, it's a fantastic camera and a nice upgrade from the 40D however I was experimenting with using incamera sharpening and noise reduction, something I never used on the 40D as I always had incamera settings set at zero. So I have yet had the chance to properly compare the 40D and 7D. Anyhow, I took a few shots today at ISO400 without incamera noise reduction and they seemed milky smooth so looking positive for higher ISO's come the darker evening light.

Hi Dave, love the photos, great shots!

Ref the 7D, I found the set up tips on this site invaluable, even though the subject matter is a little different!

Hi Steve, thanks for the link, some of it was pretty useful! Especially   the bit about incamera noise reduction. Seems in the 'Low' setting, it   actually works wonders when shooting JPEG which is what I do.

Perfect Steve thanks, I've bookmarked the link. I think my 7D currently has the most upto date software (I hope) considering I got it less than a week ago.  ;D  New softwares released often so will be worth keeping an eye on. Thanks again
