It's certainly not the private companies fault. Compensation/cancellation clauses are always written into contracts. But to cancel this project when it was close to completion surely demands a public enquiry.

The news about the RC-135 Rivet Joint`s being leased was announced prior to the MR4A being cancelled.
Intial reports are that 6-8 aircraft will be delivered;judging by previous purchase of high tech US equipment,there will be major problems and likely heavy cost over runs. ::)
 
In case others are not aware the Sentinal R1 based on the Global Express bizzjet is also going to be retired from service was the Afghan campaign is concluded.
It only entered sevice in 2009. :o
