Belfast Intl Runway Works
« on: October 26, 2011, 04:47:00 PM »
Landed today at BFS on EI047 from Barcelona, arrived on 25 stopped half way down turned in the middle of the runway facing the tower and vacated at Bravo. Did record a video of landing so will post link after.

Spoke to the guys in the flight deck after it and 17/35 is closed at the minute, and no aircraft has permission to vacate unless its special circumstances. The runway today was full of ops vans etc.

cheers

They may be making a taxiway along 35/17.

There already is Taxiway F and a disused section but it doesn't run the full length.

Is this a guess or rumour? I don't see why they would have such a short length of taxiway north of 25/07. Doesn't seem necessary at all.

I thought there was a taxiway at the 35 end;I recall aircraft for some of the Ards Airshows being on static in that area, however that was mid 1990`s.
It would make sense to have a taxi way on 17/35 if 17 was in use, then landing aircraft would not need to backtrack to the mid-point before clearing the runway.
A check of NOTAMS might yeld more info as to what work is in progress.

Runway 17/35 still closed at night, still have to get the light check before reopening it, heard it was going to get checked before the end of this month. That doesn't look like it going to happen.
