Mallard
« on: January 14, 2012, 11:30:51 PM »
Hi Guys I had my first outing with the Canon7D with the Sigma DG 50-500mm AP HSM lens. I went to the local park and took a few shots of the ducks etc. I was pleased with the outcome.

Hey John, very nice, I've always been interested to see how the new Sigma 50-500mm OS would work with the 7D.

Also, when I saw the thread title, I was expecting pics of this beauty;

HI Dave I'm pleased with it I have to say. I had a rotten few months recently but today gave me the taste to get out and about again. I need to visit an airfield now to see how it behaves then. The shots seem pretty sharp at the top end which I had heard could be an issue with the big Sigma.
At full size 5184 x 3456 you can see reflections in the eye and great detail in the feathers. It'll do for  me for sure.

Yep the Mallard is a beaut and I must confess I thought about it myself when I wrote the title. I would have been thrilled had that picture you attached been the shot I got today.

Thanks Casper for your comments also. Sorry I added the link to the Flickr site rather than the picture in error now changed.
