Aurora Borealis

Something a bit different for me, spent last night (until 3am!...yawn.....) at the north coast having a go at capturing the 'Northern Lights' for the first time.

Stunning shots. Didn't know it was as visible from the North Coast. Is it like this throughout the Winter months or just at certain times?

Couldn't honestly say, I don't have much knowledge about it, just what I've picked up on a few web sites such as http://www.nightskyhunter.com/
and for forcasts as to likely sun activity I watch these sites:
http://www.spacew.com/
http://www.softservenews.com/Aurora.htm
http://aurorawatch.lancs.ac.uk/

unfortunately you don't get much advanced warning most of the time (Takes me about an hour & half to get to north coast :( ), but that seems to be the best spots for pics as there's not too much light pollution (mainly Portrush).

Fantastic set of pictures Joey!

Some of the best photos of the Aurora from Northern Ireland - Great quality.

We might get another glimpse of it tonight, but it's a bit cloudier out there today!

Wow, I'm only seeing this thread now, those images are fantastic Joey. I never knew the lights could be seen so clearly from Northern Ireland. Very impressive!
