Down District Council confirmed the EuroFighter on their website. Some talk on it about the Vulcan. A lot want some US jets over. But given their recent cuts. That is not happening.

I'd rather see some Russian, Swedish or other European jets than US ones, that being said I like all fast jets! I'd even like to see a few classic airliners!

I was thinking more along the lines of a DC-10, L-1011, 727 even a Mad-dog, as long as it's noisy!

BT article

This 'foot-in-mouth' contagion shows no sign of letting up  ::)

Everyone gives out about Afghan but regardless of viewpoint on that story, nobody would be complaining if we were dodging cruise missiles from Russia. They might be glad of our defence then.

I think the Sinn Fein councillor has just made a total fool of himself;noticed another headline on the same page, about a blind man caught in a cattle barn with a rubber glove and a brush shaft,I reckon it was of much greater merit. ;D

The crowds will still come out. They do this every airshow in Newcastle. No big deal. They even asked for the Red White and Blue smoke to be switched off a few years ago.

I am looking forward to them back in Newcastle. The 10 plane flypast they did on the opening day of the Olympics was a nice gesture from them after not getting over for the Festival of Flight in 2012. Looking forward to seeing what other jets are added and if it will just be jets this year or if they have anything else planned aside from the jets.

The majority of people just want to see the display and don`t give a stuff about colours of smoke etc;it`s sad that some narrowminded people can`t grow up and move on.

D.D.C. are being tight lipped about what has been invited , probably to avoid any dissapointment incase any invited dont confirm.

taken from another board someone who had been in touch with the Vulcan restoration group

Quote
Hey gang,
I e-mailed the group that has restored and fly the Vulcan Bomber and asked them about a potential fly-by this was their reply
"The plan so far is to display and land on Sat 10th Aug, and then depart Sun 11th Aug.
I can't give you times though as I don't have them."
not the dates mentioned but it sounds like it's on!!! The Bray Airshow is scheduled for July 31st, So I don't know what event this is for. Awesome! Thanks for the heads up "Television" This is a once in a lifetime opportunity

The dates for the display at Newcastle match this(10thAugust),but I would be very surprised if the Vulcan is to display due to the huge cost of booking the aircraft, but you never know.

Nothing yet about it on the VTTS website.

as a ratepayer in the Down Council area I have absolutly no objection whatsoever to them using my rates money to get XH558 over here  ;)  :)  to hear the "Vulcan Howl" echoing off the mountains would be memorable.

Thats great news-I have been lucky enough to see a few displays by the Vulcan at various shows, and it is mighty impressive.
Just hope the weather plays ball because it really will be a sight and sound to behold.

Newcastle`s shops ehould begin stock piling Ear Defenders now!  ;D

Never seen a Vulcan, so quite excited for this. Great line up so far this year. Only thing I would change would be the Dakota for the Lancaster... maybe next year.
