About a month ago I had the opportunity to go to Singapore for a week, and as I would have free accomodation (girlfriends brother), the only cost to us were the flights.
We opted to fly from Heathrow via Doha as this would split up the long flight into 2x 7 hour flights to Singapore, and the same back again. We also booked specifically with Qatar Airlines as they had the 787 scheduled to fly the LHR-DOH leg of the trip. Unfortunately the 787 groundings meant we were not to get our first 787 flight, however as this was my first long haul trip since the age of two (which doesn't count), I was happy enough to fly on any aircraft.
LHR-DOH was flown on an Airbus A340-600. Slightly more cramped than I had imagined, and I spent most of the flight in a bad mood as the wing seat I booked had no window.

We departed at 3pm and arrived into Doha just after midnight.
DOH-SIN was flown on a Boeing 777-300ER. Much more spacious and comfortable. As we departed Doha at 2am, the majority of folks, including my other half, opted to sleep most of the flight. I spent most of the flight taking long exposure wing shots and watching films on the IFE. Arrival time into Singapore was 3pm
Our apartment was right near the heart of Singapore, Marina Bay. Luckily our accommodation had a 25m roof top swimming pool where we could enjoy the daily 35 degree temperatures.

None of the locals seemed to use the pool so we pretty much had it to ourselves. Ironically, the approach path to Paya Lebar Military Air Base was right over the apartment, so daily we had C-130's, F15's, F-5's, Chinooks, and Fokker 50's flying overhead. Quite an unexpected bonus!
Inbetween sight seeing and lazing poolside, I did manage a few hours here and there at Singapore Changi Airport. Spotting there is pretty limited unfortunately. There is a viewing terrace in one terminal but only overlooking a small section of ramp and away from either runway. Outside of the airport, at this time of year, there is only one possible spotting place which is backlit until 2pm which is when the daily thunder storms roll in.

I did manage a few snaps though.
