Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner accident

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flight AI171, has crashed in Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, after takeoff from runway 23 at Ahmedabad International Airport (AMD/VAAH).

No reports of any survivors,all 242 on board are feared dead.
Some reports saying the flaps may not have been deployed correctly for the take off,but the resolution of the crash video is so poor, it's difficult to say for sure.

Was following this on some of the aviation forums.

Disappointing that everyone was getting so hung up on whether or not the plane took off from the end of the runway as normal or from the mid-point where the taxiway joined the runway (same as BHD).

Apparently there is a 4 minute gap in the tracking data (confirmed by FlightRadar24) so there is no record of the plane backtracking for take-off but some are convinced this is proof it took off from the middle of the runway and didn't get enough speed or lift for takeoff.

According to a passenger on the flight the aircraft took to  arrive at Ahmedabad before the crash "Nothing was working" on board.
